Accor Ambassador Korea has signed a deal to build the country’s largest hotel complex in Yongsan, Seoul, with four new hotels under one roof, the group said Monday.

The hotel chain announced a significant partnership with Seobu T&D Co. for the project. The four new hotels are scheduled for completion in 2017.

Accor Ambassador Korea, established in 2006 by French hotel giant Accor and the Korea-based Ambassador Hotel Group, provides a high quality approach to hotel development and management solutions.

It also offers human resources and sales and marketing support to network hotels based on Accor’s global business standards and Ambassador’s vast local expertise.

In partnership with Seobu T&D for the Yongsan Hotel Complex, Accor Ambassador will manage all four new hotels with around 2,000 rooms under one roof and offer customers a range of choices from luxury to midscale, including the Novotel Ambassador Seoul Yongsan, Suite Novotel Ambassador Seoul Yongsan, ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Yongsan and Grand Mercure Ambassador Seoul Yongsan.

The agreement also introduces three new brands of Accor and Ambassador to Korea, including the upscale Grand Mercure Ambassador, upper middle-scale Suite Novotel Ambassador and midscale ibis Styles Ambassador.

By signing the hotel management agreement for the project in Yongsan, Accor Ambassador Korea will further strengthen its leadership position as the largest international hotel operator in Korea.

“This is the largest hotel project we have signed in Asia so far. This project would not have been possible without the great support of Chairman Suh Jung-ho of Ambassador Group and the trust we have received from Chairman Seung Man-ho of Seobu T&D for choosing to work with us and our strong hotel brands for these four properties,” said Michael Issenberg, chairman and chief operating officer of Accor Asia Pacific.

“This new partnership is a great reflection of 26 years of a successful relationship between Accor and Ambassador in Korea. The combination of global brands and standards with local expertise enables a ‘glocal’ hotel management system that works well in South Korea,” said Patrick Basset, senior vice president for Accor South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines.

“The hotels here have performed exceptionally well these past years. With the increasing demand for international brands in the country, we anticipate that these four hotels will be another successful story for our company.”

“This hotel project is unprecedented, not only in terms of its large scale, but also because it offers four different segmented hotel services of Accor and Ambassador under one roof,” said Kwon Tae-wook, chief representative of Accor Ambassador Korea.

“We are very proud of serving as the operator of the Yongsan hotel project, and will provide a distinctive, high-quality level of customer services,” he said.

As the largest international hotel operator here, Accor Ambassador Korea currently operates 12 hotels with nearly 3,500 rooms in five major cities across Korea.

In 2014, Accor Ambassador’s new hotel brand ibis Budget Ambassador will be launched in Dongdaemun and Chungmuro in Seoul, and at Haeundae in Busan, and additionally Novotel Ambassador Suwon will open in Suwon. Accor Ambassador Korea aims to increase the number of its network hotels in the country to 20 by 2015.

The Yongsan project site is strategically located in central Seoul near the Yeouido Business District and Central Business District.

Accor is represented in 92 countries with nearly 3,600 hotels globally and 550 hotels in Asia Pacific. In Korea, Accor provides an extensive offering with a broad portfolio of Pullman, Novotel, Mercure and ibis hotel brands and currently operates 12 hotels locally.
